Autumn? Meh.

Winter? *rocks hand with uncertainty and a skankin lip*

Spring? *shrugs*

Summer? Getting hotter..

Festi season aka the season to strip back on the clothing layers and pile up on the accessories and glitter.

Festival season is probably my favourite time of the year. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to push those fashion boundaries just a smidge further and really take my styling instincts to town. It’s especially a good time for the lads and lassies who are a little bit more reserved with their style, to break free from the usual and embrace their inner diva.

This year, since I have an internship all summer, I’m a little unsure about how my festival season is gonna pan out. So I have come to the executive decision that I will redirect my passion for festivals towards helping you guys fulfil all your festival fantasies.

From this Friday, into the foreseeable future I am going to post new content under the title of “Fest-Fridays” to prepare you for the season ahead.

To kick it all off I thought I’d give you a little food for thought, some style inspiration, to help you figure out the type of festi-look your aiming for. The list of themes for festi-looks is endless: you could be bohemian, techno alien vibes, rainbow inspo…

Here are some people you can turn to, to help you make this life-changing decision.

BoHo ChIc

Vanessa Hudgens is a perfect example of what it means to be bohemian. I think what makes this Coachella Queen so good at this style is the fact it’s part of her very essence- she’s not just bohemian for the summer months, she’s bohemian all year long!

Erika Fox aka Retro Flame is also an attendee of Coachella and goes for very much similar looks as Vanessa, rocking simplistic bohemian vibes.

Retro Flame // Erika Fox on Instagram: “Oh it’s good to be back 💫🙌🏻 @houseofharlow1960 @revolve #revolvefestival”

Factors to keep in mind when rocking this style is:

  • Fedora’s
  • Flowy clothing (skirts, maxis, kimonos)
  • Tassels
  • Jewellery (& lots of them)
  • Suede
  • Cowboy boots/ sandals
  • Hair feathers
  • Knits

I didn’t really know what to call this section because it’s a little bit just whack, it doesn’t really fit in so I thought “ALL OUT” was the best fit because- it is!

This is where Mika and the Confetti Crowd really shine through- They’re made for festival season!

These girls know exactly how to push the boat out with their extravagant accessories and colours and don’t forget the dosage of glitter

Factors to keep in mind when rocking this style are:

  • Hats
  • Wigs
  • OTT accessories
  • Glitter
  • Fisnets
2 of the Confetti Crowd also sell their own festi clothes which you can find @shopfluffy (knitwear) and @easytiger (glitter)

There’s kind of a blurred line between the genres of alien, sequins and almost that BDSMy (controversial title for it but you get the idea- btw i acc love that style so no shade) look. However, what they all have in common is you’ll most certainly see some variation of it in Ibiza. It’s that typical look that characterises Ibiza, techno festivals.

Laura Dodgson (@laucarys) is the best lady for inspo on Ibiza-esque fits. I have been obsessed with this girl and her festival outfits since I found her account a little over a year ago.

If this is the style you’re after then she’s the girl to follow.

Factors to keep in mind when rocking this style are:

  • Bralets
  • Cage skirts
  • PVC
  • 90s sunnies
  • Glitter
  • Leotards
  • Boots (platforms)
  • Fishnets
  • Belts
  • BDSM (??) / Bulky jewellery

Overall, I would really recommend checking out style inspirations on Pinterest as you can type in the specific style you’re going for an get much broader results!

If you make your own festi board don’t forget to tag me so I can see and join in on the pinning!

In next weeks edition I’m gonna talk a little on where you can actually go about getting these clothes and maybe make a little lookbook to help you along the way!
